EVA FOGELMAN GIVES KEYNOTE, HEBREW UNIVERSITY, JERUSALEM Congratulations to Remember the Women Institute Advisory Board Member Dr. Eva Fogelman, who was keynote speaker at Hebrew University, Jerusalem, at the inaugural conference in recognition of her donating her oral history archive on the persecution of children to Hebrew University and Yad Vashem. The April 13 program was sponsored by The Kestenberg Holocaust Child Survivor Archive. Oral History Division of the Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem; the Diana Zborowski Center for the Study of the Aftermath of the Shoah, The International School for Holocaust Research, Yad Vashem; and Child Development Research, New York. Anna Rosmus visited the burial site of the Kirchham concentration camp (northeastern Bavaria), where she participated in the dedication of a memorial marker to the United States soldiers who liberated the inmates. Keynote speaker was the US-General Stanley Eric Reinhart, Jr., whose father commanded the liberating 65th Infantry Division in 1945. Among the guests of honor were several U.S. veterans decorated by the State of Israel. Congratulations to Alice Shalvi, whose many accomplishments were detailed in a feature story in the Haaretz weekend magazine on July 8, 2011. The article, by Aviva Lori, is entitled "A soldier for sexual equality." It begins: "As long as the army has such a central influence over life in this country and Orthodoxy is dominant, asserts Prof. Alice Shalvi, there won't be equality between the sexes. Despite this, at 85, the Israel Prize laureate is still energetically working toward achieving that lofty objective." Congratulations to Rosemarie Reed, who has completed her documentary film of Ravensbrück and Sachsenhausen, Where Birds Don't Sing. For more information, see http://www.filmsforthought.com/. Congratulations to Karin Doerr, who has been appointed to the Academic Council of the Canadian Institute for the Study of Antisemitism.
