PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW IT IS USED
*Our registration forms for events request that users to give us contact information that may include name, e-mail address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, and similar information. Use of that personal information consists of communication to users regarding information on events and other newsworthy material connected to Remember the Women Institute.
*We collect Internet Protocol (IP) addresses from all visitors to our website. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our website, analyze trends, track users’ navigation of the site, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.
*Donations by check or other bank transfer mechanism may be made directly to Remember The Women Institute. In this regard we do not share any personal information including but not limited to the name and address of the donor, amount of the donation, the name of the donor’s bank, and any identifying account number or other characteristic connected to the donation. Donations by credit or debit card are processed directly through PayPal, which administers the transfer of funds and identifies the donor. PayPal does not provide us with the donor’s credit card or debit card information. We will acknowledge every donation unless specifically instructed otherwise. We do not share donor personal information with other non-profit organizations.
*All information provided using a function of the Remember the Women Institute website is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us.
*We will handle all personal information confidentially except under the following circumstances where we may disclose it without your consent:
-When we are required to do so by law.
-When the use of your personal information is necessary to respond to an emergency that threatens the life, health, or security of an individual or the public.
-When your personal information is already in the public domain.
*We provide links to other servers which may contain information of interest to our readers. We take no responsibility for, and exercise no control over, the organizations, views, the accuracy of the information contained on other servers, or any computer virus that might be distributed by other servers.
*Creating a text link to our site does not require permission.
*You may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a Web form that provides us this information. We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests. Unless otherwise specifically instructed by you, we may forward your email to colleagues who are better able to answer your questions. We may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest. If you sign up for one of our email lists, we will only send you the category of information you have requested.
